Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Rounds collects, why, and what you can do about it. We've written it in plain language on purpose.

For any privacy question or request, contact us at hello@rounds.golf. For the purposes of the GDPR, we are the data controller for your personal data.

Who can use Rounds

Rounds is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

What we collect

Account and profile. Your email address, your first and last name, and — if you choose to add them — a profile photo, a short bio, your golf handicap, your home course, and the region(s) you want to see rounds in. Handicap and bio are optional and entirely up to you.

Activity in the app. The tee times you post, requests to join rounds, reviews you leave after a round, your buddy connections, and records of no-shows. We keep a count of rounds you've completed.

Messages. Messages you send in group chats and direct messages are stored so they can be delivered and shown in the conversation.

Email records. We keep a log of the emails we send you (for example, notifications and sign-in emails) and a record of addresses that have bounced, complained, or unsubscribed, so we don't keep emailing people who don't want to hear from us.

What we don't collect. We do not collect your date of birth, your phone number, your precise location, or any payment information. We do not track you with analytics or advertising tools.

How we use it

We use your data to run the app: to create your account, show you relevant rounds in your region, connect you with other golfers, deliver messages and notifications, and keep the community safe (for example, no-show records).

Our legal bases under the GDPR are: performing our contract with you (running the service you signed up for), your consent (for optional information like handicap and bio), and our legitimate interests (keeping the service secure, preventing abuse, and not emailing people who've opted out).

Location

Rounds does not track your location. We only ask which named region you want to see rounds in (for example, Amsterdam or Rotterdam). When the app shows a map of golf courses, your browser loads map images from OpenStreetMap, which can see your IP address as part of any normal web request.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We use a small number of trusted providers to run Rounds, who process data on our behalf:

  • Supabase — our database and sign-in system (hosting your account and app data).
  • Lovable — our app hosting, sign-in flow, and email sending.
  • Cloudflare — serves the app and handles web traffic.
  • Google — only if you choose "Continue with Google" to sign in, in which case Google handles that sign-in and shares your name and email with us.
  • OpenStreetMap — provides the map images, as described above.

Some of these providers may process data outside the EU. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by standard legal safeguards (such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses).

How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your identity and remove your name and photo from content others can see (your past messages and reviews remain but show as "Deleted user"). We keep records of unsubscribed and bounced email addresses so we don't contact you again, and basic email-sending logs for a limited period for security and reliability.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and request a copy in a portable format.

You can delete your account from within the app. For any other request — including access, correction, or a copy of your data — email hello@rounds.golf and we'll respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Changes

We'll update this policy as Rounds grows and will change the date at the top when we do.
